About us
Built for creativity and professionalism
HQ Studio represents exactly what you would want from a purpose built recording facility; a relaxed, creative, inspiring environment that provides the perfect vibe for clients to create.
Born in 1990, HQ opened its doors for the first time in 1992 in the cellar of a warehouse near Strangeways, Manchester. The aim was to provide a purpose built recording environment where music could be made 24 hours a day by anyone, for any reason. We think we've achieved this...
As time passed, the success of the studio grew and a second larger facility, Studio Two, was built. Over the years both facilities developed and expanded from analogue 24 track systems through various digital formats to their present, unlimited states, combining the best of both Analogue and Digital technologies.
The recording area is acoustically treated and houses a large array of instruments, vintage and modern, all ready to be used for that 'killer part'. The control room has been designed to provide an accurate listening environment for those long tracking/mix sessions while minimising listening fatigue with no interruption from the outside world.
At HQ we strive to provide a creative environment that will put you in the right frame of mind to produce your best work while pushing your creative force to its limits.

What’s your favourite memory of recording it?
“That’s actually quite a hard question to be honest because we had a great time at HQ Studios recording it, but It would probably be when I first heard the drums and bass because before we went in the studio it sounded good live but our producer Mike Vindice – shoutout to him by the way – really helped Ted and Brandon find their own way of playing it and it’s honestly given us a massive step up since.”
